Mary Chernichky Radel, age 95, formerly of Golf Club Road, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West.
Born in McKees Rocks, PA, on January 1, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Borgniec) Chernichky. Mary was a devoted Catholic, a parishioner of St. George Church for almost 50 years, who never missed attending Mass, regardless of the weather. She loved music, dancing and playing bingo, and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was one of the best bakers in town. |

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Radel; brothers, George, Paul, Eddie, Joseph and Thomas Chernichky and John Crain; and sisters, Irene Wozncki, Ann Szuminski, and Betty Dubinski. Survivors include a son, James E. Radel, and his wife Lindis, of Waterford; 2 grandsons, Steven J. Radel, wife Heather, of Erie, and David P. Radel, of Waterford; a great-granddaughter, Amber Lynn Radel, of Erie; three brothers, Peter Chernichky, of Clarion, PA, and Emil and William Chernichky, both of McKean; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend services there, Friday at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint George Church. Private burial will be in Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, McKean. |
