Richard H. Miller, Sr., age 86, of Erie, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Abington Crest Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Erie on February 12, 1924, he was a son of the late Paul Miller and the late Mamie (Peelman) Miller Handy.

During WW II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was the owner-operator of Morton and Miller Flooring, and was a member of Carpenter's Union Local #81. Richard enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Miller, and a brother, Frank Miller. Survivors include two sons, Richard H. Miller, Jr., wife Kathy, and Frank R. Miller, and a daughter, Susan M. Thomas, husband Melvin, all of Erie; 7 grandchildren, Laurie Miles, Rick, Rob and Shawn Miller, Melvin and Ericjon Thomas and Carrie Sala; 10 great-grandchildren and several nephews. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a service there Monday at 11 a.m., with his grandson, Father Ericjon Thomas, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. |
