Mary Lou (Stein) Cooney, age 80, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at her residence in Millcreek.

Born in Albion, PA, on April 4, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James F. and Maybel A. (Consedine) Stein.
She was a graduate of Saint Benedict Academy. Before her retirement, she was a receptionist at the McDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton Law Firm for thirty two years. She was a member of Saint Jude the Apostle Church, and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Kathleen Roberts, and three brothers, Clarence, Frank and Robert Stein. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William G. Cooney; three sons, James R. Cooney, of Pittsburgh, Joseph P. Cooney, wife Debora, of Harrisburg, and Robert W. Cooney, wife Patricia, of Corry; a daughter, Joan M. Elisha, husband Jerome, of Seattle, WA; and nine grandchildren. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Saint Jude the Apostle Church. Burial will be in Saint James Cemetery, Crossingville. |
