Mary Ann Baughman Eisert (2010-07-11)

On July 11, 2010 Mary Ann Baughman Eisert died after an extended life of 88 years, a life that made this a better place for all who knew her. We thank God for all the years he shared her with us.

Mary was born in Erie on May 18, 1922 to Anna and Erdice Baughman and grew up in South East Erie, attending St. Joseph Grade School and Academy High School. On July 11, 1941 (7/11 – a lucky day for our family) Mary married Robert Eisert and after WW II they began to raise a family.

During 65 years of marriage, Mary worked with Bob at Sherwin Williams Paints, volunteered at St. Jude Church and Our Lady’s Christian School as a founding member, and created a loving atmosphere for the Eisert family. In addition, she was a fantastic cook, a great wife and mother to a family and was able to juggle working and raising four children who meant the world to her. She was known as the “Manor Taxi” to all the children in their west side neighborhood.

After the kids "left the nest" Mary and Bob left Erie winters behind as they wintered in Tavares, Florida. They spent 25 great winters with their Florida friends sharing countless great memories.

In recent years, Mary has been active taking care of her grandchildren, playing cards and continuing to share her wisdom and love with everyone who got to know her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dorothy (Peterson). Mary is survived by her brother Donald Baughman, her husband Robert, her children Mark Eisert of Erie, Tom Eisert and his wife Connie of Haymarket, Virginia, Elizabeth Eisert and her husband Phil Mendes of Erie, Paul Eisert and his wife Joan of Youngsville, PA, and eleven grandchildren: Rachel Schroeck and her husband David, Jonathan Pytlarz and his wife Kelly, Jennifer Ulrich and her husband Tim, Ginessa Heisler and her husband Ryan, Philip Mendes, III., Stacie Mendes, Bradley Mendes, Brandi Cowden and her husband Mike, Crista Brackley, Kristopher Eisert and Courtney Eisert and numerous great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. Services will be held there on Wednesday at 9:15 am followed a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church at 10 am. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.

Mary, you will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Please keep a home ready for the rest of us when you get to heaven.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Our Lady’s Christian School or Maria House in Mary’s name.
