Arthur G. Hetz, 85, of Waterford, passed away Saturday July 17, 2010 at the Erie V.A. Medical Center.

Born in Erie September 30, 1924 he was a son of the late Perry E. and Laura Zister Hetz. He founded Hetz Builders, Inc. framing and building homes in Erie for over 50 years. Semi retiring in 1993, he continued to help his son in the business.
Arthur served in the Army with his three brothers in WWII where he drove an ammunition supply truck throughout Europe and earned a Good Conduct Medal. His mother had four stars in the window waiting for all her sons to come home safely. He was a member of the American Legion Post #285, and a former member of the East Erie Turners, Siebenbuerger Club and Sons of Italy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, riding his ATV through the country side, going to the YMCA and especially spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Ann Schillinger Hetz and a brother, Norman Hetz. Survivors include his loving wife, Fran Niebauer Hetz; two children, James A. Hetz, wife Becky, of Edinboro and Susan M. Peterman, husband Martin, of Palmdale, CA; 4 grandchildren, Justin Walker, Aaron, Kathryn and John Hetz; 2 great grandchildren, Christopher and Sebastian Walker; two brothers, Harold Hetz, wife Joy of FL; and Lloyd Hetz, wife Sue of Girard and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Brugger Home for Funerals, West 38th at Greengarden, Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Services there Thursday at 11:30 AM with Msgr. Gerald Koos officiating. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. |
